Mr. Jonathan Brennand, Executive Director, Artistic Director and WYSO Conductor
and Mr. Jorge Soto, WYPO Conductor.
The Board of Directors of the Worcester Youth Orchestras is pleased to announce some new and exciting changes for our 65th season. Our proud history is prologue and the resurgence of the Orchestras will be led with an international flair this season. We welcome Jonathan Brennand, from England, as our Artistic Director, Executive Director and Conductor of WYSO and Jorge Soto, from Venezuela, as our Conductor for WYPO. Mr. Brennand brings his vibrancy and experience of instructing and conducting young people to WYO. He plays multiple instruments (including, violin, percussion, organ) and has extensive experience with voice instruction. His background provides WYO with a unique opportunity for stimulating, multi-faceted instruction. Mr. Soto, who is a concertmaster and first violin, has conducted several youth symphonies around the U.S. and has taught here and in Venezuela. Part of his instruction method is to play the violin with his students. This will be a wonderful season of opportunity for the children and young adults of the orchestras.
Messrs. Brennand and Soto conduct in a way that is inspiring, fun and adventuresome (please review their videos on the website). Both gentlemen have strong connections in Central Massachusetts and the entire Commonwealth that will enable us to grow.
We will also be capitalizing on the large number of colleges and universities in Worcester and will be utilizing interns to assist at rehearsals, as well as office management and promotion.
These certainly are exciting times for the Worcester Youth Orchestras and we hope that you will join us.
