Pakachoag Music School Audition Day

The Worcester Youth Orchestras and Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester are pleased to offer Pakachoag students and families a special discount and audition day.  Students who are enrolled in lessons, group classes or other programs at Pakachoag will receive a audition fee waiver ($35) when they sign up for an audition at Pakachoag Music School's Irving Street location in Worcester.  As an added bonus, WYO will waive the new student registration fee ($50) if you are accepted into one of WYO's ensembles and decide to join the WYO program.  That's a total of $85 in discounts just for Pakachoag students and families! Please note, this discount is only applicable if you audition on this day.

Who can audition? 
- All students (20 and under) pursuing  string, wind, brass, harp, piano and percussion are eligible to audition.
- Students who are enrolled in a public or private school, or home-school programs and/or community music schools. 

What should I bring to my audition?
- You
- Your instrument
​- Mallets (Percussion Only) 
 - 2 copies of the solo piece(s) you will perform


How long is the audition?
Auditions are generally 10 minutes in length.  

How do I sign up & chose my time?
You will be presented with available slots once you complete the 
Audition Registration Form.

Who is in the audition?
Auditions are private and are conducted by the WYO staff, including the various WYO ensemble conductors.

What is the cost to participate in WYO?

'18-'19 Tuition (Anticipated): 
Symphony Orchestra: $700
Philharmonic Orchestra: $700
String Orchestra: $200

Wind Ensemble: $700
Jazz Program: $700
Baroque Orchestra: $150 ($200 for students who don't enroll in WYSO) per session
Clarinet & Flute Choir: $150 per session

No student will be turned away due to financial hardship. ALL WYO students receive an automatic tuition subsidy ($890) through the generosity of our supporters.  Families seeking additional financial aid or scholarships should contact the Artistic Director by email.

- Merit Scholarships (for outstanding talent)
- Internships & Work-study 
- Special Scholarships are available for Double Bass & Bassoon

When do the ensembles rehearse? 
Our Season runs September to May, with ensembles rehearsing each week. In general, WYO follows the public school calendar in regards to holidays and vacations.
