About The Audition Process
Who can audition? - All students grades 3 and up pursuing string, wind, brass, harp, jazz piano, jazz guitar, drum set and percussion are eligible to audition. - Students who are enrolled in a public or private school, or home-school programs and/or community music schools. What are the steps? 1) Check the Audition Requirements for the ensemble you are interested in. All require scales and solo excerpts. 2) Fill Out The Audition Form & Pay $15 Fee 3) Select an audition time slot. What is the audition fee? $15* * Please contact us if you need assistance with a financial waiver for the audition fee. Do not hesitate to ask. Who will be at my audition? Auditions are private and are adjudicated by the WYO conductors and coaches. Some auditions may be audio recorded if an ensemble specific faculty member is not available. Students will be informed at the beginning of their audition if they are to be recorded. What is the 2025 - 2026 Concert Schedule? Click Here What is the cost to participate in WYO? New Student Registration Fee: $50 '25- '26 Tuition: WYSO: $1500* WYP: $1250* Wind Ensemble: $1250* Jazz Band: $1200* String Ensembles Program: $625* Sinfonia Strings & WYP: $1350* Chamber Orchestra & Small Ensembles: $650* Students must be enrolled in Symphony, Philharmonic, Wind Ensemble or Jazz Ensemble to participate in chamber. *No student will be turned away due to financial hardship. ALL WYO students receive an automatic tuition subsidy through the generosity of our supporters, this subsidized tuition is reflected above. Families seeking additional financial aid or scholarships should contact WYO by email to ask about additional support. Sinfonia Stings: 2-3 years of playing experience
Prelude Strings: 1-2 years of playing experience Grades 8 - 12

Chamber Orchestra & Chamber Music
Open to any age By invitation based on your audition. Please note on your audition form if you'd like to be considered. Consists of alternating chamber orchestra of baroque, classical and contemporary music, along with small ensembles such as string quartet, wind quintet and brass quintet. Our Ensembles

WYO ensemble and performance opportunities are intended to compliment school music programs. It is the policy of the Worcester Youth Orchestras that each student musician participates in his/her/their school music program, if offered at the musician’s school as part of the school day curriculum and/or as an after/before school activity or club.
