The Worcester Youth Orchestras &
Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester
In 2010, the Worcester Youth Orchestras became the resident youth orchestra at the Pakachoag Music School of Greater Worcester in Auburn. With the support from the school and Executive Director, Sarah Smorgeski, the orchestras were given access to a wonderful rehearsal and practice venue in a bustling and engaging community music school. Over the past three years, the orchestras, under the direction of Jonathan Brennand, have experienced unprecedented growth, going from one ensemble to three. WYO has enjoyed being "in-residence" at Pakachoag, but due to space concerns, the two organisations decided to find a larger rehearsal space for the Worcester Youth Symphony and Junior Philharmonic. Starting in the Fall of 2014, WYSO & WYJP began rehearsing at Auburn High School, maintaining their presence in the Auburn Community and accommodating their increasing size. At the same time, WYO founded the Worcester Youth Baroque Orchestra which will be in-residence at Pakachoag Music School, rehearsing during the week. This will enable the orchestras to remain a part of this active music school and stay engaged with the students enrolled in the school.
The School and Orchestras are pleased to be "Partners in Music" and look forward to many more years of collaborations and partnerships, helping foster and develop the vibrant arts community here in Central Massachusetts and providing opportunities for aspiring young musicians.
